Yashaw’yahu (Isaiah) 23:7-9 Is this your city of revelry, whose antiquity is from days of old, whose feet carried her far off to sojourn? (8) Who has counselled this against Tsur (Tyre), the crowning city, whose merchants are chiefs, whose traders are the esteemed of the earth? (9) YAHUAH of hosts has counselled it, to defile the pride of all splendour, and to shame all the esteemed of the earth.

Matatyahu 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, (20) but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. (21) “For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.”

Luke 12:15 And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, because one’s life does not consist in the excess of his possessions.”

1 Timothy 6:6-9 But reverence with contentment is great gain. (7) For we brought naught into the world, and it is impossible to take any out. (8) When we have food and covering, we shall be satisfied with these. (9) But those wishing to be rich (be increased with goods) fall into trial and a snare, and into many foolish and injurious lusts which plunge men in ruin and destruction.

1 Yahuchanan (John) 2:15-17 Do not love the world nor that which is in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) Because all that is in the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. (17) And the world passes away, and the lust of it, but the one doing the desire of Aluahim remains forever.

Note: Consumerism can be defined as “the selfish and frivolous purchasing and collecting of products; and consuming materials in excess of their basic needs”. A consumer society is never satisfied and encourages maximum consumption with little or no time for doing the desire of our Heavenly Father. Please read Chapter 18 of The Book of Revelation to understand the outcome of this consumer society.
